White Pine Initiation
White Pine, the magnificent Tree of Peace, has long been a guide and ally to Pam Montgomery. On a weekend in September, she lead a group of us in a Plant Initiation with White Pine that was destined to bring us, individually and collectively, to a place of profound peace. We entered into ceremony for three days, tuning ourselves to the energy of White Pine, learning, receiving messages, being strengthened and healed by the tree.
We gathered eight times in circle to drink an elixir of White Pine, prepared with prayer, gratitude and focused intention. After each drink together, we spoke of our experiences, both physical and spiritual, and as the initiation progressed, these sharings became more and more imbued with the wisdom and understanding that comes from nature-consciousness arising.
In the intervals between our gatherings for partaking of the elixir, we were guided in experiential activities to bring us into deeper resonance with the trees. These included sensory exploration, shamanic journeying, labyrinth walking, prayer-making, journaling, mask making, and speaking in Council as the various voices of White Pine spirit.
Messages from White Pine:
Three themes that emerged repeatedly in our experiences with White Pine were strength, balance and Peace. The following are brief messages shared by participants in the Initiation.
Melina’s message from White Pine:
“Standing is your strength”
For me , one essence of this message is how much we emanate when we stand in our true power, in our grace, our gratitude, our love. Being grounded is essential now—rooted, strong, steady, confident, open and loving.
Sarah’s message from White Pine:
Barbara’s message from White Pine:
My journey to white pine brought the message to just be here now.
I felt so much peace and serenity. I felt very calm, relaxed and felt as if everything is going to be all right.
In order to find peace, we must “bury the hatchet” as they did under the white pine years ago.
There is no black and white, left or right, right or wrong. Instead there is a need for balance.
From White Pine to me:
through it all
for us all.”
Sunit’s poem on her message from White Pine
Ode to my Strengths:
Truth and kindness
brings many joy
heals deep wound
so there is no toy
Heart and wisdom
have been learnt
balance and integrity
are still being learnt
Joy, Peace, Stillness
these are my gifts to you
open your heart
I love you
Cynthia’s messages from White Pine
(received during the Labyrinth Walk): Who am I and what is my power? I am the gatherer, the woman who brings people together. I am the one who infuses energy into those seeking a path out of the darkness. I am the woman who models deep healing from deep trauma, and encourages others to do the same. My power is a huge loving and open heart, which inspires other to risk opening their hearts to the possibility of healing too.
(From the first visit to White Pine and “joining in the daydream”): The Initiation and perhaps the healing gift as well is “Consider allowing each individual’s truth to be true without allowing it to affect your own truth. This allows peaceful interactions and an honoring of the other’s experience as well as personal experience. Peace is not about right or wrong; Peace is about Healing, about Allowing, trusting in oneself.”
White Pine continues to speak to us, through our senses, through our memories, through symbolism and dream, simply through her presence. Do you have a message from her that you'd like to share? Please do, in the comment section below.
