Cloe Chunn, a former high school and college teacher, is a naturalist, outdoor writer, and Registered Maine Guide. She is a cofounder and faculty member in the Maine Master Naturalist Program. Her book, Fifty Hikes in the Maine Mountains (W.W. Norton), has been a Maine standard hiking guide, continually updated and revised for over 30 years. Cloe has hiked the entire Appalachian Trail, and has explored wild country as far afield as Antarctica, where she did geological research during graduate school. Cloe is happiest when she is outdoors, where she enjoys feeling her connection to the rest of Earth’s creatures and helping people restore their sense of connection also. She does this through her work with the Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition. She is especially fond of birding, kayaking, cross-country skiing, and Sphagnum bogs.
