Honoring Our Kin in the Listening Field
They are here before you wake. Moving through watershed and canopy, burrow and sky.
They are everywhere and always. In the wingbeat overhead and the worm moving through dark soil. In the dog curled near you and the hawk riding thermals above the highway. In the hum of the bee and the silence of the deer paused at the forest's edge.
Animal Kin are not our backdrop. They are our family — the ones who have shaped this Earth alongside us, whose bodies, breath, and instincts are woven into the very fabric of life. They stir the soil and scatter seeds. They migrate across continents, dive into deep waters, pollinate the flowers that feed us. They carry the pulse of the living world in hoofbeat and wingbeat, in fin-slap and tide.
We are not separate from them. We, too, are fur and skin, salt and bone, breath and hunger. To pause and offer gratitude to our Animal Kin is to remember who we are and where we belong.
This ceremony is an invitation to do exactly that.
Animal Kin Gratitude Ceremony
*Beginning Saturday, March 21, 2026
offer this ceremony in your own time and
your own space through May 10th.
This is not an online event.
ONE coordinates this global ceremony so that each act of gratitude, including yours, becomes one of many bright points of light across the Earth — offered from backyards, balconies, forests, and kitchen tables, from those who live close to wilderness and those who live in the heart of cities.
To guide you, we've created a printable instruction sheet with everything you need to prepare your altar, speak the Gratitude Prayer, and return your offering to the Earth. The framework is simple, and there is room within it for your own words, your own place, your own Animal Kin.
Reciprocity is the heartbeat of kinship. When we pause to name what Animal Kin give us — the oxygen, the beauty, the food, the wild intelligence, the sheer aliveness of their presence — we strengthen the web of relationship that holds all life. Your ceremony matters. Your gratitude joins a larger field of remembrance.
We invite you to let us know you're participating and to share your experience through the Love Note button below.
*If you are not able to offer the ceremony between March 21 and May 10, we welcome you to participate any time. Your prayers and your gratitude contribute to the collective field we are building together.
