Honoring Our Kin in the Listening Field

While you slept, they kept growing. Upward through the pavement, downward into the dark soil.

They ask for so little and give so much. In the moss holding the shaded stone and the dandelion breaking through the sidewalk. In the oak that has stood through a hundred storms and the seedling barely above the soil. In the orchard heavy with fruit and the blade of grass reaching for the same sun.

Plants are not our backdrop. They are our kin, our elders and guides, quietly spinning light into nourishment, medicine, shelter, and grace. They were here long before us, and they will be here long after. They root the soil and hold the rain. They feed the pollinators, the animals, and us. They offer themselves again and again, asking nothing in return.

They have never asked to be noticed, and they have never stopped giving. To pause and offer gratitude to Plants is to return something, however small, to those who sustain us without asking. This ceremony is that small act of return.

"We honor you, ancient ones, who have grown and rested and grown again since long before we arrived, needing nothing from us to be whole."

Plant Gratitude Ceremony

*Beginning Saturday, September 26, 2026
offer this ceremony in your own time and
your own space through May 10th.
This is not an online event.

ONE coordinates this global ceremony so that each act of gratitude, including yours, becomes one of many bright points of light across the Earth, offered from backyards, balconies, forests, and kitchen tables, from those who live close to wilderness and those who live in the heart of cities.

To guide you, we've created a printable instruction sheet with everything you need to prepare your altar, speak the Gratitude Prayer, and return your offering to the Earth. The framework is simple, and there is room within it for your own words, your own place, your own expression of kinship with Plants.

Reciprocity is the lifeblood of kinship. When we pause to name what Plants give us — the oxygen, the beauty, the food, the wild intelligence, the sheer aliveness of their presence, we strengthen the web of relationship that holds all life. Your ceremony matters. Your gratitude joins a larger field of remembrance.

We invite you to let us know you're participating and to share your experience through the Love Note button below.

*If you are not able to offer the ceremony between September 26th-November 16th, we welcome you to participate any time. Your prayers and your gratitude contribute to the collective field we are building together.
